Important News Regarding Bury St Edmunds Model Railway Club's 2022 Annual Exhibition

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Bury St Edmunds Model Railway Club have been forced to take the decision to cancel this year’s exhibition.

We are in the unfortunate circumstances (because if illness) of not knowing all the exhibitors who have been invited and are therefor unable to contact them direct.

If you were expecting to exhibit please accept our apologies.

If there are any issues the club secretary can be contacted on email: secretary@burystedmundsmrc.com

Please watch this space for details of our 2023 exhibition, which we hope shall take place in September next year.

Welcome

Welcome to the Bury St Edmund's Model Railway Club

All model railway enthusiasts, of all levels and interests are most welcome.

Club Nights are held weekly on Thursdays between 7.30pm and 10.30pm and Tuesdays (by arrangement).

We are proud that our club celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2019.

The Club was inaugurated in March 1949 as a model engineering society and has gone from strength to strength, currently boasting a membership of some 40 souls.

By way of celebrations, we had a fantastic day at the North Norfolk Railway and held our biggest (thus far) annual model railway exhibition

Our Club rooms
Room 1
Members planning work on the large OO and N Gauge layouts.

Both layouts are "work in progress". The OO layout is quite an old layout and is having a massive facelift.

Room 2
This is the heart of the club, where we get together to discuss the latest news and information and is also where our kitchen / refreshments area is.

Club Modelling Days

We have started a modelling day at the club on the first Monday of each month.

This need not be layout related modelling - or even railway related. If you just want to have some time to model away from distractions at home, this is the chance :)

Times will be from 10AM until about 4PM (or until we have all had enough). Bring some lunch! The Chairman will provide the milk for the tea.

The number of work benches around the three rooms seem to limit numbers to about 10 people max for each modelling session. The only extra health and safety issue I am requesting is that if you are working in room 1 please ensure that there is at least one other person also in that room.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending. Available spaces will be on a first come first served basis.

For future modelling days I will put put up a sheet on the notice board for you to book spaces.

Please visit our FaceBook page for more details about our club and events we are holding and attending
